A Man and His Mustache

Joe Ahern's short film "A Man and his Mustache" is set to hit film festivals and I'm so glad to have worked with him on the poster and the main titles. The film is a great story about a guy trying to understand the reasons his ex-girlfriend left him. I'm not going to give any more details on the film, other than that if this is playing at a festival near you, you should check it out. Trust me.

Enjoy the video and make sure to check out more at www.UrbanAsian.com

Thanks for watching!

Synced: Jack Knight

UrbanAsian.com's Agam Darshi sat down with music producer and songwriter Jack Knight for an interview on what got him into the music industry, what he's doing now, and what he has in store for us in the future. I had the opportunity to not only edit the footage, but create the opening title sequence for the webisode series. Enjoy!

Project Confidence on Kickstarter

Sonny Harper, the creator of a self-help program called "Project Confidence" has set up a kickstarter account to generate financing for a documentary about reform from within the prison system, focused on developing self confidence and etiquette for both men and women within the prison system. The rate of return inmates after going through her classes is drastically reduced, vs. the average inmate return, which proves that this system works!

The documentary is going to cover all of her classes, and the audience will be able to see a drastically noticeable change within the inmates who participate. I will be working with Sonny during the filming stage, as well as post production. We will be doing followup interviews with all of the inmates to see how their lives have changed 6 months after taking Sonny's class and implementing what they have learned in the real world. I'm very excited to be a part of this project!

"The Reel Job" (screenplay) wins the Writers' Room Invitational at AOF

Last night, AOF International Film Festival held their Writers' Room Invitational and the script I worked on took home the grand prize!

The group consisted of writers from all over North America and the script was passed along from writer to writer, each providing a page of the story for the next writer to continue from. Alix Reeves, Neil Chase, myself and Michelle Muldoon wrote a funny script based on Neil's initial concept.

Tonight is the last night of the festival, with the awards dinner and a final after party. This has been a great festival and I'm already looking forward to next year.

Contingency at AOF Film Festival Tonight!

Contingency is screening tonight at the AOF International Film Festival in Pasadena, California. Actress Annie Boon, nominated for AOF's Breakout Action Star award, will be in attendance. I will be attending as well and on a Q&A panel after the block of films has commenced.

I'm terrified of public speaking, so this will be interesting...

You can pre-purchase your tickets to the screening here

"The Story of Frank" Screenplay is a Finalist at the 2011 Alaska Int. Film Festival

The 2011 Alaska International Film Festival announced their awards today and my feature length screenplay titled The Story of Frank has been listed as an Official Finalist! The Story of Frank follows a young boy named Jimmy who discovers an 8-foot giant living in the woods and takes him home to live in his tree house, unaware of his recent escape from a mental institution outside of town. As more and more escapees arrive into town and wreak havoc on the locals, Jimmy must choose whether to keep hiding his new best friend or send him home where he belongs.

I'm honored to have my screenplay as a finalist in Alaska International Film Festival and am looking forward to continuing the festival circuit for this screenplay (as well as a handful of edits to the story). Congratulations to all of the winners and Finalists at the festival.

Something Different This Way Comes

Over the next couple of weeks, StephenKrystek.com will see a major facelift. Nothing lasts forever and we tend to grow out of things as quickly as we grow into them, and I don't feel the site represents what I love doing anymore, hence the changes. Simplicity is the key word to the new site. Now, I guess its time to start designing and coding it. And hopefully I'll figure out a way to embed this blog into the site so that I'm not the only human reading this text.

Happy Fourth of July weekend!!!
